About the Guest speakers
Beatrice Chaytor
Senior Expert - Trade in Services |AfCFTA Support Unit
Beatrice Chaytor is an international trade lawyer, specialising in advising and supporting African governments in their engagement with regional and international trade policy processes. She is currently Senior Expert - Trade in Services in the Department of Trade and Industry at the African Union Commission, based in Addis Ababa, and works on the negotiations for the establishment of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Prior to her position in the AUC, Ms Chaytor ran her own corporate law firm, Chariot Eightin Freetown, Sierra Leone, providing legal services to local, regional and international clients. Ms Chaytor has previously served as Director of Policy in the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Sierra Leone, and as Programme Director for the Foundation for International Environmental Law and Development in London, building capacity among developing country negotiators at the World Trade Organisation.
Ms Chaytor is interested in research and analysis on a range of legal and economic policy issues affecting Africa. She has undertaken assignments for DFID, the European Union Commission, and the UN FAO. She also has private sector interests in horticulture, packaging, design and well-being.

As the founder and CEO of Global Trade Solution, she has more than 25 years’ experience in the International Trade and international Supply Chain and Logistics environment. Her experience from a consulting and technology perspective includes a vast array of industry segments from Manufacturing, FMCG, Foods, Pharmaceuticals, the Motor Industry as well as a number of small, medium enterprises.
Louise holds a B.Com from the University of Stellenbosch and a B.Compt (Hons) from the University of South Africa, as well as a number of diplomas in International Trade and Project Management. Prior to founding GTS, Louise completed her articles at Ernst and Young and worked extensively in international trade at various blue-chip companies in Africa and internationally.
She has performed consulting and international trade enablement across the globe and participates in a number of international organisations including the World Customs Organisation (WCO), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Her involvement in trade facilitation initiatives on the African Continent, ranges from one of the founding members of the Technical Service Providers Association SA (TSPA), being part of the Customs modernisation activities across the Southern Africa region, working extensively with the Road Freight Association (RFA) and a number of other local associations involved in International Trade and International Supply Chain and Logistics, including being a founding member of the Women In Trade Working Group.
